Assessing Technique by Creating Split-Screen Movies

The students in Mr. Trotman's PE class continued to review and reflect on their technique for soccer. In this lesson they focused on shooting and dribbling by creating a split screen movie using iMovie on their iPads. After a discussion about how to shoot and dribble effectively each student received a series of short movies that demonstrate real athletes demonstrating the same technique. This enabled them to reflect and analyse their own technique exactly against the real-life athletes e.g. keep head over the ball to not lean back when shooting.

Creating clothing 'characters' in Puppet Pals. Creating varied weather backdrops in Puppet Pals. The students in Mrs Cust's class were shown how weather is important when deciding the 'Clothes We Wear' with a Puppet Pals movie. This tool could also be used by the students to create their own movie in the 'I Do' phase of learning. Creating a 'My Day' e-Book using Book Creator as part of an IEP. A student focusing on telling time as part of their IEP created an eBook to demonstrate they can associate time with routines in 'My Day'. Students will be able to create a Stop Motion movie to demonstrate counting on using Stop Motion Studio. Demonstrating concepts with stop motion movies can be powerful for students. The students in Mrs Cust's class will be showing how they count on with numbers and counters by creating a stop motion movie using the free Stop Motion Studio app.
